Wrapped in Angels Wings

I had been a widow for about 5 years, so was able to choose my own sleeping schedule which usually was from about Midnight till 9:00 am.

One night as I crawled into bed about midnight, I was lying there just thinking about how comfortable my bed felt. I suddenly (in my head ) heard this strange word.

I started to spell it out loud--Z U R I E L. As I pronounced it, I realized that the only word I had ever heard that even sounded remotely like that one was U R I E L, the name of an angel.

"Are you an angel?" I asked. I knew the answer was "Yes!" Are you by chance my guardian angel?" "Yes!" was the answer once again. At that point, feeling wrapped in angels wings I fell asleep.

The next morning as I woke up, I heard another strange word. It was "Narandra"--and when I asked about it, I was told it is the name my angel knows me by.

Since that time, I have been collecting angels. Everything angels. I have hundreds of them. They make me feel comforted and it is impossible for me to ever feel lonely. I am blessed with many angel friendships...a friend gave me an angel that reminds me of myself after a long hard day. She stands 2o inches tall, looks pretty frazzled and holds a sign that says "Off duty Angel." I treasure it.

It is good to know that no matter what time of day or night, my guardian angel is never off-duty!"

An Angel to help me cross

During the Christmas season last year, I was waiting by a sidewalk for a taxicab that I had called from a payphone.

But, I needed to cross the street to the oppsite corner because the Taxi was supposed to come from that direction. The heavy traffic wouldn't allow me to cross. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere a young woman was standing beside me. She took my hand, saying, "Come with me, I will help you to cross".

She started gesturing to cars to stop while we were walking. When we reached the opposite sidewalk, I thanked her and asked her name. She smiled ever so prettily and said, "My name is Seraphina". Then she was gone.

That was the moment I knew that she was an angel. That I had a guardian angel of my very own.

Everytime I recount this experience, my eyes tear up slightly and I feel a chill throughout my body, letting me know she is always with me.

Saved from Drowning

When I was 12, I was on board a large ship returning to the United States from Germany. My Dad was in the military, and we traveled quite a bit so this wasn't new to me, but one thing that made this trip exciting was that there was a large indoor swimming pool on board.

A friend asked me to go with her for a swim, and although I could not swim well, I just couldn't resist the temptation to have a dip. It was in the late afternoon and we were the only two in sight, so we made the most of it, splashing, playing and laughing.

I was in the shallow end when her brother came up and called her in for dinner. I should have gone too, but I convinced her I would be safe and kept a hand on the the edge of the pool. I had gotten so relaxed and comfortable I decided to stay in for a while longer, when suddenly my hands lost their hold on the side of the pool, and I slipped into water way over my head. So I began to panic, sinking into the deep water and rising back up again. Each time I surfaced I tried to scream for help but water flooded into my mouth and I swallowed it in. I did this three times, getting more tired with each time, until finally I began to sink. I realized I was going to drown.

As I sank, I thought of my Mom and Dad, my sister and brothers, how sad they would be when told that I had drowned. My heart ached for the pain my death would cause them. I closed my eyes as my lungs were bursting for air; I was going to have to give in and breathe in the water. My final thought was; God help me!

Suddenly I felt a pressure from behind me, it felt like powerful giant arms were lifting my body from the water. One moment I was drowning and the next I was standing bewildered at the shallow end of the pool. I immediately turned around to embrace the huge person who had lifted me, but there was nobody there! I knew instantly that my guardian angel had saved me. There was no other explanation. My final little prayer to God had been heard.
