This is us with other Singaporeans on 7 March 2005 during our lunch break in between the Lamrim Chenmo teachings we are receiving from His Holiness Dalai Lama in India,Dharamshala, McCleod Ganj. Can you see me (Lizzie) leaning so comfortably and happily against HH Dalai Lama's robe and Benson just beside me....heheee...feeling so contented and heavenly...!
We spent our first night here in this hostel call Janpath Guesthouse in Delhi and are waiting for our breakfast and then on our long drive to Dharamshala, McCleod Ganj where we are going to stay for one month.
The room in this guesthouse is very simple, dingy and musky...heheee...and a radio that blasts in the middle of the night which shocked us out of our bed.
This is our guestroom's toilet...can you see the stains on the ceiling?
Me standing infront of our rented jeep that will drive us all the way to Dharmashala that will take 10 hours. There are one driver and one manager who will be travelling with us. This is the entrance of the guesthouse where we have stayed for one night.
We stopped here for a light snack before we start the steep drive up to Dharamshala. The chappati, curry and milk tea are really yummy...!
Sweets Galore! Would you like a piece of sweet? This a picture of the Shop owner...hehehe...he has asked us to take a picture of him. We are staying here for the night. This is our guestroom in Dharamshala, McCleod Ganj. We have just arrived at about 8.30pm. We are so hungry that we have to order food from the next door guesthouse, Pema Thang. There is one deva on the wall of the room and another huge one just above Benson's head.
We have taken this picture from our room window on our second day here. We have just woken up and enjoying the snowy view from the warmth of our room. In the background, we can hear the majestic chanting sounds of the Lamas from HH Dalai Lama's temple. Here's another angle of the beautiful snowy view from our room's window. This is us all wrapped up like popiah rolls just outside our room going out to take a walk to the market and shops....brrr...brrr....it is really cold!
Here's Benson with two of the staff of Pema Thang's guesthouse & cafe located just next door to our lodge. We are here having our breakfast....they cook really yummy food! This is Pema Thang where we love to eat. They have lovely, reasonably priced rooms but they are fully booked for the entire month. Wow! It is fun to see strangers from foreign land and the locals throwing snowballs at each other! It is fun to watch but not fun to be hit by one...heheee...
